What is Encryption at Rest / in Transit?

Definition

Encryption at rest protects stored data by converting it into an unreadable format on disk. Encryption in transit (also called TLS) protects data as it moves between systems over a network. Together, they ensure data is protected whether it is being stored or transferred.

Why It Matters

Engram encrypts all data at rest and in transit. Combined with confidential computing, this means your data is encrypted at every stage — storage, transfer, and processing.
