What is Semantic Search?

Definition

Semantic search is a search technique that understands the meaning and intent behind a query, rather than matching keywords literally. It uses vector embeddings — numerical representations of language — to find content that is conceptually similar to the query, even when different words are used.

Why It Matters

Engram's semantic search lets you find knowledge by meaning. Searching for "customer retention strategy" will surface relevant content even if it never uses those exact words — because the system understands context, not just keywords.
